Instead of treating animals like disposable objects, we should be investing in better sanctuary models and prioritizing habitat conservation so wild populations don’t end up in cages in the first place. The fact that healthy baboons were killed because “there wasn’t enough space” is a failure of planning and compassion. It’s time for Germany (and the rest of the world) to rethink the ethics of keeping animals in captivity for entertainment. We need real, green policies that respect animal rights and put ecosystems first—not just PR apologies after the damage is done.
