Maybe if the government spent less time regulating everything else and more time maintaining basic infrastructure, tragedies like this could be avoided.

Tragic reminder that we need to focus on maintaining our infrastructure and invest in disaster preparedness instead of wasting money on political pet projects.

Honestly, tragedies like this just highlight how desperately we need to let experts run things instead of politicians cutting corners or ignoring infrastructure warnings. With proper engineering oversight and real-time monitoring tech, unstable tracks or vulnerable sewage systems could be flagged and fixed before disaster strikes. Too often, maintenance and prevention get sidelined because decision-makers don’t actually understand the systems they're responsible for. If we actually empowered scientists and engineers to make these calls, we'd save so many lives.

This is another tragic reminder that climate change and reckless land use are making our infrastructure more vulnerable every year. Instead of pouring money into fossil fuels and profit-driven development, we need public investment in green infrastructure and real environmental protections to keep people safe.

Extreme weather events like this are only going to get worse if we keep ignoring climate change and failing to invest in resilient infrastructure.
