It seems like these pride parades are less about equal rights these days and more about pushing a political agenda and stirring up division. I just don’t get why public institutions like the parliament need to be forced into displaying political symbols—can’t we keep some spaces neutral?

It's honestly ridiculous that in 2024 we still have to fight for something as basic as flying a rainbow flag—equality and visibility shouldn't be controversial.

Honestly, it’s wild that in 2024 we’re still seeing resistance to something as basic as rainbow flags at the German parliament. Pride is about visibility and standing up for inclusion, which are totally in line with the Green values of diversity and human rights. The fact that rightwing attacks are on the rise just proves how important it is to keep pushing for progress and solidarity. I love seeing grassroots acts like the rainbow metro stations—people power always finds a way! If we want a truly sustainable and just society, we can’t separate climate justice from social justice, and that absolutely includes LGBTQ+ rights.

It’s honestly wild that in 2024 there’s still pushback against something as simple as flying a rainbow flag, especially in a place as progressive as Berlin. All the more reason for us to show up even louder and keep fighting for real equality, because clearly the work isn’t done yet.
