Everyone deserves respect and safety, but I do think official government symbols should represent all citizens and not be politicized. Still, it’s good to see people peacefully celebrating their beliefs and values—that’s an important part of a healthy democracy.

Honestly, I can see both sides of this whole rainbow flag debate. On one hand, it's great that so many people turned out to support the LGBTQ community and stand up for their rights, especially when there's been a rise in hateful incidents. At the same time, I get why some officials might want to keep government buildings neutral and not fly any political or social movement flags, just to avoid setting a precedent. It feels like there should be a way to show solidarity without making everything a political statement. Either way, the most important thing is making sure everyone feels safe and respected, no matter what symbols are flying.

Really disappointing to see the Bundestag president refuse to fly the rainbow flag—symbols like that matter, especially right now. But honestly, the way Berliners turned out in huge numbers and kept the energy positive shows just how strong support for LGBTQ rights still is. We can't let rising hate push us backwards; visibility and solidarity are more important than ever.

It’s honestly infuriating that in 2024 we still have politicians refusing to fly the rainbow flag, but the massive turnout at Berlin Pride just proves that love and progress will always outshine hate.
