Should egg donation be legalized?

Currently, Germany is one of the few EU countries where egg donation is strictly prohibited by the Embryo Protection Act of 1990, forcing many couples to travel abroad for treatment. A government-appointed commission recently recommended legalizing it, arguing that the ban discriminates against women since sperm donation is legal. Proponents argue it grants reproductive autonomy and helps infertile couples, while opponents fear the exploitation of women's bodies and potential psychological harm to children unsure of their biological origins.
